You might  or might not be crazy about Joan Rivers’ humor.

You might or might not approve of her extreme plastic surgeries. Or her raunchiness.

Nonetheless, Joan Rivers can teach you one of the most important lessons to master as a spiritual entrepreneur, if you watch the documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work.

Actually, there’s a lot Joan Rivers can teach us  about maintaining a career through ups and downs over 40 years. And about loving your work, being committed to your art, and being willing to step out of your comfort zone. Over and over again.

If you were my Law of Attraction coaching client, I’d strongly recommend you see the movie.

Essentially a solopreneur, Joan Rivers is  a small cottage industry, working from home, supported by a small hand-picked staff.  She’s driven and passionate about her work -  performing comedy – and determined to receive an abundant income in return.

The biggest lesson I want to pass along to you from  Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work is this:

Persistence. You must keep getting your life’s work out there. No matter what “they” think.

Like the rest of us Joan Rivers prefers to be loved and appreciated.

The difference is that even when she’s not loved or appreciated by critics or fans – even when she’s feeling raw and hurt and disappointed – she still keeps getting her work out there.

She doesn’t question that her gift is to perform and make people laugh.

Because Joan Rivers knows she’s expressing her gift, she keeps moving ahead with her life. And she has become a life-long pioneer of women in comedy, in show business, and in entrepreneurship.

You can be brilliant and talented.  But you’re not likely to create a successful business over the long run unless you are also persistent.

Through my work as a Law of Attraction coach helping spiritual entrepreneurs, I’ve seen new clients crumple in defeat because no one commented on their blog or their latest marketing campaign fell short of its ambitious goals.

“Maybe I’m not supposed to be in this business,” they lament.

Or, hello, maybe the universe is just helping you master the art of persistence.

So you can stay true to your dream, become a lifelong pioneer in your work, and be a gift to the world.

Thank you, Joan Rivers, for showing us how it’s done.
