Wall Street, Elections, and Your Micro Business
Is the world teetering on the brink of economic disaster? Will election of the “wrong” U.S. President push it over the edge?
With scary headlines dominating the news, it’s easy for small business owners and solopreneurs to feel discouraged and worried. Unfortunately fear can translate into business paralysis.
If you’re Ford Motors, Dupont or hundreds of other Blue Chip corporations experiencing a nose dive in profits, maybe it makes sense to worry. If you’re a small-to-medium manufacturer who can’t get a loan to pay for raw materials, yes, you have a problem.
But right now I’m speaking to the audience I’ve been speaking to since 2002, as a Law of Attraction coach and mentor assisting hundreds of small business owners and solopreneurs.
And I find the current crises largely irrelevant to our businesses.
How can a global economic crisis mean nothing to a small business owner or solopreneur? Because small can mean smart and nimble — traits giant corporations and national governments have little acquaintance with.
Before you allow all the talk about looming disaster to add your personal panic to the current situation, keep a few facts about small business ownership in mind.
First – While some customers will be cutting back, others won’t be. Law of Attraction can help you connect with the ones willing to pay for your product or service — as long as you expect those customers to show up. Why not expect the best? What good can come from expecting the worst? If you know anything about the Law of Attraction, you know that it responds to your expectations above all else.
Second – How many customers do you need, really? Since 1992, I’ve made a solid 6-figure income from only a handful of repeat customers at any given time. Over the next year or two, I expect to cross the 7-figure mark. One of my former coaching clients just starting his business has only one client so far — for a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract. We are so fortunate in not having to make payroll for hundreds or thousands of people or more. It’s easy to make payroll for one or two.
Third – As Abraham-Hicks would say: don’t use someone else’s negativity as your excuse not to line up with what you want. The Law of Attraction responds to each of us individually. You do not have to focus on fear even though everyone else seems to be. As long as you’re focused purely on what you desire, you will attract it.
Fourth – If you want your business to thrive in these times, don’t hide! Commit to your personal development, improve your marketing and sales, get yourself out in public with an inspiring message. Now is definitely the time to stay passionate about your business. If you lose passion and shrink, that’s what shrinks your income — though you may blame it on “the economy.”
With passion and focus, you can even take your business to the next level of income right now, while everyone else is looking for a place to hide.
